A two-year-old was mysteriously found dead in a swimming pool during a wedding, hours after police said they had searched the murky water for the missing toddler.
Marquavias Thweak was found floating in a home swimming pool in Birmingham, Alabama, in the early hours of Monday morning.
The little boy was reported missing to police earlier that morning and officials said they scanned the pool several times with infrared technology but didn't find him.
The Thweak family, who was hosting a wedding reception of up to 70 people at the time, denied police access to the home and didn't report the child missing for 45 minutes, police said.
Hours after the initial search, an officer noticed the toddler floating in the pool's murky waters and the little boy was declared dead.

An autopsy is being performed by a coroner to get 'clarity on the cause of death', Lt. Sean Edwards said to AL.com.
The official said police tried to gain access inside the home to search for the child for several hours but the family wouldn't allow them inside.
He added: 'There's a lot of question marks that we have. If you have a two-year-old missing, you're going to be 125 percent cooperative... most normal parents would say, "Everything is open."'
Edwards told the news outlet it was 'mysterious' that Marquavias was found in the pool even after authorities had searched the waters several times before finding him.
He added: 'It's kind of interesting. There was a time where we didn't have eyes on the pool after we searched it. Anything could have transpired then.'
Police blamed the pool's murky waters (pictured) for officers not finding the little boy right away. Officials question how the toddler could have drowned with so many adults around
Police said they were alerted that Marquavias was missing around 12.45am on Monday morning.
They reported that the little boy actually hadn't been seen for 45 minutes before the 911 call. He was last seen by the pool.
There was around 50 to 70 guests at the wedding, reported WVTM 13.
Edwards said the child's parents and four other people were brought into police headquarters for questioning.
Later on Monday evening, police determined Marquavias' death was a tragic accident but are still waiting on the official coroner's report.
