LITCHFIELD — Nokomis High School scored 25 points in the third quarter to cruise past East Alton-Wood River 58-24 Monday in the Litchfield Invitational boys basketball tournament.

LITCHFIELD — Nokomis High School scored 25 points in the third quarter to cruise past East Alton-Wood River 58-24 Monday in the Litchfield Invitational boys basketball tournament.

Nokomis, which led 27-17 at halftime, outscored EAWR 25-5 in the third frame to take a 52-22 lead into the fourth period.

Devon Wright led Nokomis with 16 points, Austin Chausse added 15, and Tyler Herpstreith netted 11.

In a double-overtime thriller, Metro East Lutheran earned a 69-66 win over host Litchfield.

The Panthers led 23-17 at halftime, but MEL rallied for a 35-32 lead after three frames. The game was tied at 48 after regulation.

Mason Steffens and Peter Cui led Litchfield with 14 points each.

In the first game, Jakob Lowrance had 23 points to lead Bethalto Civic Memorial past Hillsboro 57-40.

Lowrance had nine of his points in the first quarter as Bethalto grabbed an 18-5 lead.

Dylan Miller led Hillsboro with 18 points.
