Fire Safety At Your Apartment Complex

THE WOODLANDS TX — Lightning from severe storms overnight sparked a fire that destroyed at least eight apartments in The Woodlands.

Firefighters were called to the Holly Creek Apartment Complex in the 300 block of Holly Creek Court at about 2 a.m. Monday and found one building burning in the section of the attic. When firefighters tried to reach the fire, the roof collapsed, according to a KHOU report.

Officials said that eight of the apartment units were damaged by fire, while four others had smoke and water damage, KPRC reported.

Several of those apartment residents were out of town for the Memorial Day weekend and have not been notified that there was a fire, KTRK reported

No one was injured, and the Red Cross was called to assist displaced residents.

Several lightning strikes were reported in The Woodlands and Montgomery County at the time of the fire, fire officials said.
