MP Pool Construction On Track

MT. PLEASANT — Construction of the new, enclosed swimming pool in Mt. Pleasant is progressing on schedule and on budget. A firm completion date has not yet been determined, but the end of November is possible.

There is still much interior work to be done, including lights, doors, bathroom fixtures, lockers, tiling of the pool and some walls.

Mt. Pleasant has hired Britanny Adams to be the pool manager. She is currently the North Sanpete High School swim team coach. Adams reports that all the needed equipment has been ordered and will be installed.

There was a question at one time whether there would be lockers, and yes there will be lockers. They will not be metal, but will be a durable plastic design which will not rust, as steel would.

Because a firm completion date has not been set, very little scheduling has been put in place. However, a swim meet has been scheduled in January and there will be an open, free swimming, event after the pool is done.

Initially a parking lot was not being funded, but funds have been arranged to cover that cost. It is exciting to see the project coming together after having waited, in some cases several years, for this pool. It should be a big asset to the Mt. Pleasant community and to North Sanpete County.
