NWS has confirmed a tornado was observed a little after 1 p.m. near Hatton, North Dakota, which is about 26 miles southwest of Grand Forks. The funnel was reported by the service as nearly stationary in the sky and was expected to remain near the rural areas of southeast Grand Forks county, >WDAY reports
KSTP Meterologist Sam Ryan said the potential for severe weather hitting the Twin Cities is low, only a 5 percent chance.
"If anything did become severe close to the metro, it would be before sunset for a strong wind gust," Ryan said.
